The Story

Growing up, I watched my grandmother let her grandchildren place sticky notes on furniture they loved, a tradition that lit something in me about quality, craftsmanship, and the weight a well-made object can carry. When I started MacArthur Design Co. in 2019, that conviction became the foundation: gifts should be treasures worth passing down, not things that end up in a junk drawer. Through a lot of trial and error (especially with epoxy), I've built a line of handcrafted wood pieces including resin charcuterie boards and cutting boards that are made to start conversations and create lasting memories for customers across the CSRA and beyond.

Man working in a woodworking shop, wearing safety glasses and ear protection, at a workbench with wood and tools, with clamps hanging on the wall behind him.
A young man with short brown hair, a beard, and wearing a pink blazer over a light blue collared shirt, standing and smiling while looking to the side in front of a large bookshelf filled with various books.

That commitment has meant a lot to the people I've gotten to serve. Over 150 five-star Google reviews and a loyal base of returning customers later, I've somehow become the go-to "gift guy" in Augusta and across the U.S. and Canada. I'm guided by faith and inspired by Will Guidara's idea of "Unreasonable Hospitality," which means I try to pour genuine warmth and care into every single piece. If you're looking for a gift that actually means something, I'd love to make it for you.

“The only thing I love more than woodworking is seeing faces light up when they see it for the first time.”

— Michael Meeks, Founder

How did you come up with the name?

“MacArthur” is a family name. My grandfather was named Mac Arthur Meeks and was one of my favorite humans to live. He named my dad Mickey MacArthur Meeks, I am Michael MacArthur Meeks, and named my son Madison MacArthur Meeks. We chose to name the company “MacArthur Design Co” to allow the MacArthur to continue on and honor my family. Plus the name sounds cool.
